Level 1 · Basic Workshop

Our 5-day boat canvas course is for beginners with little or no experience, and for canvas makers who want to improve their fabrication techniques. You'll get comfortable on a commercial sewing machine and learn to create and install basic canvases.

You'll learn how to measure, cut, fit, sew and install basic canvases, along with several sewing techniques and the materials you'll be working with.

• Create cockpit, travel and mooring covers
• Make, install and repair windows and zippers
• Learn about hardware, fasteners, fabrics and threads
• Learn the tools of the canvas-making trade
• Learn how to set up your shop, estimate projects and market your business
• Sew your own cockpit cover to take home

Each student is provided a sewing machine to use during the course. A one-day Sewing Machine Repair seminar is offered the Saturday after this workshop.

• Tuition: $1,999
• Reserve your seat with a $500 deposit or pay in full. The balance is due 15 days before class.
• Limited to 11 students. Classes need at least 5 students to run.
